Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents, Winona Ryder's parents, chose her name after the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz' father was editor and author and editor, as was Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder's dad came from a Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. She has also a half-sister named Sunyata Jubal. Her younger brother is Uria. Ryder as well as her entire family relocated to Mendocino County in California, when Ryder was just seven. The town didn't even have electricity. Television books were Ryder's only distraction for her time, and she began to read extensively. Ryder, then 12, was enrolled in the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. In the year she turned 15, Ryder landed her first part on the screen in Lucas. Ryder was bullied at her high school. Her hope was that acting might change the situation. However, the plan didn't pan out. However, it didn't stop her from making plans for her future. In 1988, she got her biggest break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder kept playing successful roles in a variety of films. She received nominations for two Academy Awards one for her part as a character in The Age of Innocence (1993).
